Lioele - The surprisingly gorgeous Lip Color Stick review!

Sometimes I'm a bit of an impulse buyer and more often than not I'm left slightly disappointment with my purchases. But then there's that rare occasion where something just completely exceeds my expectations and blows them out of the water. The Lioele Lip Color Sticks did just that.

From the pictures on eBay i was expecting a semi sheer finish lip product, slightly akin to the famous Clinique Chubby Sticks but oh no, these are so much more. I actually gasped a little when i first swatched them. They are gloriously pigmented, beautiful, satin finish lip colours, and i am well and truly in love. I would have been perfectly happy with a sheer lip crayon considering their under £4 price tag but we all know that I'm a matte girl at heart so these are right up my street. 

For £3.28 each (including delivery) you have four gorgeous colours to choose from; Cherry Red, Hot Pink, Orange and Pink. The two featured here are Cherry Red and Pink, but I'd be lying if i said i didn't already have the other two shades on my watch list. These also contain 4g of product which as lip products go, is a pretty hefty amount. The packaging feels and looks a little light and cheap but for the price point, I'm certainly not complaining!

 

Because of their satin texture i did find these a little bit on the drying side, so a good exfoliation and a lip balm is a must but these apply opaque in one to two sweeps and have excellent lasting power. I've worn the Pink shade for a good 5 hours before needing a touch up, which is pretty darn good for me! Because of their more matte like texture these don't bleed or travel around the lip line either which is one of my pet peeves for lip products. They apply smoothly and are pretty comfortable on the lips too. ... Just look at those colours!

 

I can honestly say these are my favourite affordable lipstick discovery of the year, they rival the quality of even higher end lipsticks but at a fraction of the cost. For once, I'm so glad I took a little gamble and ordered them because it definitely paid off! I absolutely adore them! Now heres hoping that Lioele are kind enough to release some more shades, because i for one would jump straight on that bandwagon!

Makeup Revolution Death By Chocolate Palette - Review

Hi there Lovelies!

We've all seen a million reviews and lusted over that other famous chocolate bar inspired eyeshadow palette over the last six months or so but up until recently we've had no drugstore alternative to turn to, until now! Makeup Revolutions sister brand I Heart Makeup have released a pretty darn similar product at a fraction of the price point, well theres actually two palettes but today I'll be reviewing Death By Chocolate! Now I'm yet to take the plunge for the pricier option so sadly I cannot compare the two so I'll just be reviewing the quality of the product. Knowing me at some point I'll cave and do a comparison post, but my no buy isn't allowing that just yet...

Death By Chocolate is priced at a mere £7.99 (keep a look out for discount codes as there normally is one floating about) for 16 shadows so this definitely files under the "bargain" category. It boasts a variety of finishes from mattes, satins to more metallic shades which gives the palette a ton of versatility. I'm really enjoying the addition of the purple shade to contrast all those neutrals, it also works perfect with the gold toned shades on the lower lash line. The matte shades are a little dry, but on a whole all affordable mattes are, but are easy to work with on the eye and actually perform better than the swatches show. Oh and as always, my swatches really don't do the colours any justice. 

I've purchased a few Makeup Revolution palettes over the past few months and this is definitely the one I've been reaching for the most. I love the variety in cooler and warmer neutrals and the option to add a pop of colour if i choose to. The matte shades are a great addition to this palette as you have a matte highlight, one that works as a transition and a black, everything you could possibly need in a palette! The shade selection gets a massive thumbs up from me! The palette itself isn't really my cup of tea but the plastic feels sturdy enough with a nice large mirror inside for on the go application. The only other downside i could pick out is that you do get some fall out during application, which is easily remedied by doing your eye makeup first, so not really a big complaint! The swatches below were done on bare skin with no primer.

Overall Death By Chocolate gets a big thumbs up for me. While i wouldn't put it quite in my holy grail palettes just yet I'm really enjoying using it on a daily basis. It is sure to be a hit for all you neutral fans out there. I'd be lying if i said i didn't have my eye on the other Chocolate palette in the range... What can i say? I'm a sucker for neutrals!

MUA Blush in Shade 4* -Review

Ello Lovelies!

The MUA £1 Blushers* have such a following that my local Superdrug struggle to keep them in stock, which is the reason I've never tried these bargainous beauties before! Shade 4 is one of 6 blushers in their original blush collection, back in 2013 they added some more, named shades to their blush range which I'm a big fan of too and have reviewed here.

Priced at just £1 these are for sure the best value blush offerings on the high street and considering the price, definitely do not skimp on quality! Shade 4 is an absolutely gorgeous apricot-rose tone on my fair complexion with a very, very subtle micro shimmer throughout. It has great colour pay off so a light hand is needed but blends out with ease. It wears a good six hours on me without fading and the shimmer in it is so fine it doesn't sit in my pores or accentuate my dryness. As you can tell it gets a big thumbs up from me!

 

On the skin there was something that really reminded me of my beloved Orgasm blush (pictured below next to a mini duo i own due to my fall size having well and truly hit pan and looking rather grubby) although from swatches i can see that the MUA offering is a tad more peachy / apricot. Shade 4 has such a lovely sheen that during the day I've been skipping highlighter all together but for evening wear my Mary Lou Manizer by The Balm has been my highlight of choice to pair with this, it is absolutely stunning!

Below the swatches of Shade 4 between Nars Orgasm Blush and Nars Deep Throat, to me this one falls somewhere in the middle of the two, although my DT blush doesn't tend to swatch very well. The MUA offering swatches a little more intense than the other two, but looks gorgeous on the cheek. I've found this to be a very versatile blush that can easily be dressed up or down and I've been reaching for it other my other blushes every day this week. It makes a wonderful summer colour!

Nars Orgasm - MUA Shade 4 - Nars Deep Throat

Overall this blush gets a definite stamp of approval from me! So much so that i will be keeping an eye on my local Superdrug store to see if i can catch any of the other shades in stock. I really do think MUA have some of the best blushes on the high street, regardless of their teeny tiny price the quality is great and I've adored every single one I've tried so far!

Nyx Green Concealer In A Jar Review

 

Ello lovelies!
Another naughty eBay purchase review for you today. I'd seen a few rave reviews on the original, skin toned Nyx Concealer In A Jar and as i was in the market for a green concealer / primer and am sadly on quite a tight budget i thought I'd give this one a bash. I've mentioned before i do get my Nyx on eBay even though there is a UK online store. Because the price difference is quite steep if you only want one item once you've paid postage its normally about double what you pay to get the product and have it shipped from the USA, madness!

 I have quite a lot of pink in my skin which as I've been using less coverage foundations lately has been really ticking me off, so i went on the hunt for a solution. Weirdly, there aren't as many green concealers / primers on the high street as you'd think. I only spotted one or two in Boots and then spent about half an hour lusting after the Smashbox one as i love the original, i just don't love the price! So eBay it was!

Sadly, i don't think this does an awful lot. Heavily swatched it looks like it'd be perfect, but it literally blends out to nothing. Even out of frustration i scooped out rather a large lump and it just blended away never to be seen again... Well thats a bit dramatic but i just don't think this works for me. I've tried it both under and over a few foundations but I've just had no luck what so ever.

Overall, yes it was a bargain at just over £4, but its not really a bargain if it doesn't work. I really wanted to love this, but i just couldn't make it work however i applied it. So if you have any tips or suggestions on application, or even any other affordable products, let me know! On the plus side the seller i purchased it from has a lot of affordable Nyx products and my package arrived in just a week, which from the USA is bloody brilliant!
