Makeup Revolution - I Heart Makeup - Blushing Hearts Blush

Ello Lovelies!

Another Makeup Revolution review for you today! MUR have been cracking out the affordable dupes on their website, but although these aren't the latest release, they certainly aren't ones to be ignored. Very similar in packaging to the Too Faced blushes these make a very pretty addition to any makeup lovers collection. With 6 shades in the range at a mere £4.99 the Blushing Heart blushers, bronzers and highlighters are not to be missed! The two shades i picked up are the gorgeous Goddess of Love highlighter and Peachy Keen blusher. Housed in a somewhat sturdy cardboard packaging these aren't the easiest product to store, but do look mighty pretty sat on top of a dressing table!

 Goddess of Light is a stunning beige/champagne highlighter with a multi-tonal shimmer running through it that my camera just wouldn't pick up. I had reviewed another Makeup Revolution highlighter in the past and this one definitely trumps it. With a light hand it adds just a subtle sheen but can easily be built up for a more evening appropriate highlight. The only slightly downfall with these is although they are pretty, these aren't ones you'll be popping in your makeup bag for on the go, they are just too big! I found this shade to wear well for around 6 hours without fading which is about the average for me.

 Peachy Keen is my favourite out of the two, although it does have a little more noticeable small glitter chunks running through it. A gorgeous peachy hue that works well with a multitude of looks. Again it can be worn sheer for that flush of colour or built up for a more dramatic look. They blend beautifully into the skin and give the most gorgeous sheen to the cheek. These definitely do have a little sparkle to them, so if you're a strictly matte blush kinda girl, you might want to skip these. But for fans of a little bit of shimmer, these are simply stunning.

Now I've never splurged on the Too Faced option so can't really compare the two but these are gorgeous in their own right. For a baked product they wear well, blend easily and look fantastic on the skin. What more can you want? If you're a fan of a shimmery cheek i wholeheartedly recommend giving these beauties a whirl! Like always, I've got my eye on the other two blush shades in the collection!

Too Faced - Melted Lipstick Review!

Hi Lovelies! 

Too Faced isn't really a brand I've tried too much of in the past but when these were released oh boy, they got some rave reviews! I'm all about long wear lipsticks so i just had to jump on the bandwagon and pick a couple of shades up. At the time i purchased these Too Faced only had 5 shades available, making it a little easier to choose (although I'm still lusting over the violet shade), but have since released a further five. Melted Candy... You will be mine!

I was half expecting these to be a little like OCC Lip Tars but was pleasantly surprised with the formula and texture. They truly are like a melted lipstick; slightly thin in consistency, opaque in colour but extremely comfortable on the lips. The applicator isn't my favourite, a kinda foamish tip that the product comes through, but they are still relatively easy to apply. 

All the shades are absolutely stunning but i was completely drawn to these two, Melted Peony and Melted Fuchsia. Your perfect every day pink and a more daring bold shade that to be totally honest i haven't been reaching for quite as much. These both wear beautifully and on me need touching up every 4-5 hours or so, which is pretty darn good. They wear away evenly to leave an almost stain like appearance on the lips. I found them neither drying or hydrating but i do tend to wear a lip balm under all lip products. 

At first i was a little worried that these might migrate or feather around the lip line but again i was pleasantly surprised. These dry down to more of a semi-matte finish and stay put completely. A totally unique formula and I have been really loving using these over the past month or so.

Overall I'm really impressed with these! The colours are gorgeous, they wear well and are extremely comfortable. What more can you want in a lip product? The only downside is i think the applicator (not pictured, sorry!) could be improved on slightly. I for one am really looking forward to seeing if Too Faced bring out more shades in the coming months, some vampy shades for Autumn/Winter maybe?!

A little pricey here in the UK priced at £19 each but in my opinion worth every penny.

Makeup Revolution Death By Chocolate Palette - Review

Hi there Lovelies!

We've all seen a million reviews and lusted over that other famous chocolate bar inspired eyeshadow palette over the last six months or so but up until recently we've had no drugstore alternative to turn to, until now! Makeup Revolutions sister brand I Heart Makeup have released a pretty darn similar product at a fraction of the price point, well theres actually two palettes but today I'll be reviewing Death By Chocolate! Now I'm yet to take the plunge for the pricier option so sadly I cannot compare the two so I'll just be reviewing the quality of the product. Knowing me at some point I'll cave and do a comparison post, but my no buy isn't allowing that just yet...

Death By Chocolate is priced at a mere £7.99 (keep a look out for discount codes as there normally is one floating about) for 16 shadows so this definitely files under the "bargain" category. It boasts a variety of finishes from mattes, satins to more metallic shades which gives the palette a ton of versatility. I'm really enjoying the addition of the purple shade to contrast all those neutrals, it also works perfect with the gold toned shades on the lower lash line. The matte shades are a little dry, but on a whole all affordable mattes are, but are easy to work with on the eye and actually perform better than the swatches show. Oh and as always, my swatches really don't do the colours any justice. 

I've purchased a few Makeup Revolution palettes over the past few months and this is definitely the one I've been reaching for the most. I love the variety in cooler and warmer neutrals and the option to add a pop of colour if i choose to. The matte shades are a great addition to this palette as you have a matte highlight, one that works as a transition and a black, everything you could possibly need in a palette! The shade selection gets a massive thumbs up from me! The palette itself isn't really my cup of tea but the plastic feels sturdy enough with a nice large mirror inside for on the go application. The only other downside i could pick out is that you do get some fall out during application, which is easily remedied by doing your eye makeup first, so not really a big complaint! The swatches below were done on bare skin with no primer.

Overall Death By Chocolate gets a big thumbs up for me. While i wouldn't put it quite in my holy grail palettes just yet I'm really enjoying using it on a daily basis. It is sure to be a hit for all you neutral fans out there. I'd be lying if i said i didn't have my eye on the other Chocolate palette in the range... What can i say? I'm a sucker for neutrals!

LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints - Review

Ello Lovelies!

There is something about USA makeup that gets my heart all aflutter. Any beauty addict will know the feeling of seeing something raved about online and not being to get your hands on it in your country. The LA Glazed Lip Paints were no exception. After seeing countless rave reviews about these i just knew i had to get my paws on them, so a quick google search later i managed to pick up the entire set! These do range quite a bit in price on eBay depending where you get them from and average between £4-£6 each which isn't too bad. I paid £17 for the entire set including delivery (sorry i can't seem to find the same listing now!) so i was pretty darn chuffed!

With 6 shades to choose from there really is something for nearly everyone in this range, although a nude or two would be a great addition to the collection. They've been compared a lot to the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks but sadly other than their packaging their similarities end there. These remind me more of OCC Lip Tars as the scents are near enough dead on, although the LA Girl offering packs ever so slightly less of a punch in pigmentation. To me these are more like extremely pigmented, long wearing glosses. The applicator is a plastic tip and honestly is pretty useless for the product so i like to use a lip brush to make application a lot less messy!

Wear time i get around 4 hours of wear before i feel the need to touch up but they are very comfortable on the lips. I tend to use a clear lip liner with these too just the seal the edges to prevent feathering but that's something i now do with most of my lip products. We all know that I'm a huge fusspot when it comes to glosses and they aren't something i tend to reach for often. But so far these have been my most reached for lippies for the last few weeks. I think I'm well and truly off my matte kick for now and am thoroughly enjoying a plumper, glossier looking lip like these beauties give.

Babydoll - Blushing - Bomshell - Pin-Up - Hot Mess - Coy

All six colours are absolutely stunning and its a near impossible task to pick a favourite. But for sheer ease of wear I've been reaching for Babydoll the most out of the 6 with my boring ol' winged liner looks that tend to do often. I've not worn the gorgeous orange Hot Mess as of yet but to me it looks like the perfect orange shade, lets just hope it doesn't make my teeth look gross like most oranges do on me. Oh and Coy, all you purple lovers can lust after this one. It is an absolutely stunning purple and one I've actually been brave enough to wear a few times lately. I'm pretty much in love with this range!

Babydoll - Blushing - Bomshell - Pin-Up - Hot Mess - Coy

Overall these beauties have pretty much converted me to a more glossy finished lip. The colours are beautiful and the formula is spot on considering their price point at just $4 in the USA. Another plus is that LA Girl are completely cruelty free. These are now up there with some of my favourite drugstore lip products I'm enjoying them that much!

Too Faced - Sweet Indulgences Palette

Ello lovelies!

I was in two minds whether to post this little review or not. I'd already photographed and written the post when i noticed that it was no longer available online, but i've since been informed it is available in some larger Boots stores in the UK, so if it takes your fancy, Boots is your best shot!

Plus its just too pretty not to blog about...

This little gem is quite possibly my favourite Christmas present ever, which is a bit cheeky since technically, i chose it, but oh well! I've never had the pleasure of trying any Too Faced products before, I've always had my eye on some of their little kits but found the cardboard packaging a bit of a turn off. Although this isn't exactly the most practical of packing, it sure is pretty.

The Too Faced Sweet Indulgence Palette includes 16 eyeshadows, a full sized Shadow Insurance (which retails for around £16 on its own), two bronzers; their famous Sun Bunny Light and an exclusive shade, two blushes, their also very famous Candlelight Glow Highlight and a pretty useless double ended brush. Phew, that was a mouthful! Basically, its got a whole host of goodies inside!

 

My last FOTD was using pretty much entirely this palette and I've got to say I'm really enjoying it! The eyeshadows are decently pigmented and blend like a dream. I would of preferred a few more mattes in there, Teddy Bear and In The Buff are the only full mattes included, but considering the rest of the palette is mostly shimmer having a nice matte transition colour and highlight is pretty damn handy! Black Sugar also appears to be mostly matte with quite a bit of glitter but that generally blends away, which i kinda like. I really love the variety of colours in here you can create nearly an endless amount of looks with this, from daytime to night time smokey eyes to more colourful looks using the pink or GORGEOUS greens.


I'm not too fond of shimmer bronzers so i haven't really given these a bash yet, but i will try too soon. The blushes have really decent pigmentation and including both a pink and a peach makes the palette even more handy! It is really easy to create nearly an entire look with it. I haven't quite made my mind up on Candlelight Glow yet, its pretty glitter heavy, which with pores the size of potholes doesn't really work too well. But I'll keep experimenting as I'm a sucker for a good highlight!

And for the famous Shadow Insurance, well... I've not gotten on with it too well so far. I've used this palette with my trusty MUA primer and had no creasing issues but using the Too Faced primer it creased horrifically within a few hours, which shocked me. But, that could be due to over application, so considering how hyped it is, I'm willing to give it another try. The brush on the other hand, ugh. Its a sponge applicator on one end (WHY OH WHY?) and an unimpressive brush on the other end. But considering its the only thing I've had to moan about, overall this palette is doing pretty damn well....

Overall, i really bloody love this palette. Priced at £42 it is a smidge on the pricey side but if you consider what you are getting, including a full size Shadow Insurance, its a steal. I believe i used my ASOS student discount when my boyfriend purchased this, taking around 20% off. The packaging is so bloody cute, not very practical, but adorable nonetheless. 

So if you're a Too Faced fan or intrigued by the brand, have a little nosey at their stand when your next in Boots (don't forget your points card!). They might just still have this bad boy in stock!

FOTD: Malted Milk Ball

Hey lovelies!

A quick little FOTD for you today!

I've been absolutely loving my new Too Faced palette so i thought I'd attempt a full face with it. I'm still on a real neutral kick and have been experimenting with more day time wearable smokey eyes. I've also been on a mission to shop my stash more often and I'm glad i did because I've fallen back in love with my Skin79 BB Cream. I'm a foundation whore and fall in and out of love with sheer and then full coverage foundations and I'm definitely favouring the sheer option at the moment.
