My dressing table setup - The Ikea Malm!

Ello Lovelies!

I did one of the biggest cliche beauty blogger things... I got myself an Ikea Malm dressing table and I am absolutely loving it. While still living with my parents i had previously been sharing a dressing table with my Mother and had bee stuck to using just one small basket of makeup for my daily routine. As my Ikea Alex drawers were getting a tad full that set up really wasn't very practical and a lot of my collection was feeling unloved. So i decided to finally take the plunge and invest in my own little dressing table set up!

Having my own little space for a large portion of my collection has meant i am actually rotating my pretties a lot more and getting a lot more use out of things. The organisational lover in me is extremely happy with how it turned out and i find myself switching things in and out on a weekly basis. Having lots more options to hand means I've actually been switching up my daily face quite a bit too, win! The Ikea Malm dressing table is for, as dressing tables go, pretty reasonably priced at £95 (view here) and comes with a pretty glass top and a large pull out drawer. The only downside to this is that like the Ikea Alex drawers it does not fully extend, so a portion of space at the back is being wasted as it is difficult to reach back there, but that is my only small complaint.

I am pretty darn happy with how it looks now but will probably over the next year, replace some of the "less pretty" storage options on the table. Including the light, brush holders and the letter storage that is holding my MAC palettes. But for now, these are all pretty inexpensive and practical. The lamp was around £20 including the bulb and is great for aiming it where you need it (view here).

 

While not the prettiest brush holders the Ikea Dokument Pen Cups do the job just fine. And at £3.50 per 2 do not break the bank either.

Another blogging cliche... Muji drawers! While I don't find these the best for storage they are pretty useful for storing a lot of my small indie makeup collection. I also like to keep things like my Benefit Boxed Blushes in here as i find them a pain to store anywhere else. I do really need to go back and reorganise this but i just love looking at all my Sugarpill pigments in the bottom drawer! Oh so pretty!

And lastly my favourite part of my collection, the drawers! In my local Ikea these dividers were quite handily displayed right next to the Malm drawer and at a mere 80p each are quite the bargain! The drawer fits 6 dividers with enough room to store my favourite palettes down one side. Each divider has a smaller compartment and a larger one making it perfect for different shaped items. I love how i can fit a chunk of my lipstick collection neatly into one section!

I'm dead chuffed at how this turned out and to finally have my own little makeup space. I just wish my Ikea Alex drawers would fit next to it, but sadly i am about an inch short of space!

They see me haulin'...

 

I may have purchased some things....

This is my not so little collective haul that has been building up for a good 6 - 8 weeks. It wasn't until i put everything together i realised how much I've actually spent lately.... ooops!

Needless to say I'm on a bit of a ban now, but my gosh those Mac Retro Matte lipsticks look gorgeous. Anyways! I thought I'd share with you today the beauty bits and bobs that I've been spending my pennies on lately. My bank account is well and truly weeping...

 


CK One Shock for Her - £29.99 for 299ml

Sometimes i overlook fragrances purely because the bottle doesn't appeal to me, shows how much we actually depend on packing to sell us things! But i randomly had a little sniff of this beauty in Debenhams the other week and fell in love! The £55 price tag put me off slightly and i managed to find this online for a much more affordable £29.99. I'll be reviewing this in full very soon so won't go into detail on it but its an overly sweet, fruity fragrance so its definitely my cup of tea! Just need to buy a Travalo now since I'm not lugging around this massive 200ml bottle!

Viva La Juicy Noir - £56 for 100ml 

I'd amounted a ton of Debenhams points, they needed spending, so this is what i got! I'm a big fan of the regular Viva La Juicy fragrance and this one is even sweeter. Needless to say, I'm a fan! Full review again coming up soon! I even nabbed some cheeky extra bonus points (from spending points, i know, brilliant!) and a free gift.

I love me some Disney. I also love me a sale so i just couldn't resist these little beauties! I picked up two lip glosses (says the girl who doesn't generally like gloss) for mere £1.50 each! They had a ton of shades but i just couldn't leave The Little Mermaid ones there, could i?! I also snagged two of their four pan palettes in Midnight Hour and Enchanted kiss which are a neutral and a smokey grey/blue palette. These remind me SO much of the Sugarpill palettes in packaging and pan size. These were reduced to a ridiculous £3 each down from £12, BARGAIN!

Repurchases!

You all know I'm a big Korean BB Cream fan and I was running out of both of my favourites so i decided to stock up! You can find these from this eBay seller or if you're not a fan of eBay KC Beautique stock them in the UK at very reasonable prices!

Sugarpill Asteria Pigment

A lovely lady in a makeup group I'm part of picked up a few extras of these while they were on sale, so i just had to! It is gorgeous! If you'd like a review let me know!

I jumped on the Rockateur bandwagon, can't wait to test this little beauty out!

MAC Lipsticks £9

My CCO had some good shit! All the boxed products are from my CCO and i was gobsmacked to actually see they had some stuff in stock i wanted. Pink Pigeon and Party Parrot lipstick? Yes please! We all know how much i love my mattes. I also picked up two of the Archies Girl lipsticks from another lovely lady in my makeup group who was destashing. I'd lusted over these when they were released, so i couldn't pass them up this time! The shades are Daddy's Little Girl and Betty Bright. Its safe to say i DO NOT NEED any more MAC lipsticks, or lipsticks in general for that matter!

MAC Pressed Pigment in Light Touch £11

Bit of an impulse buy. It reminds me slightly of the much moaned about UD eyeshadow Midnight Cowboy Rides Again (which i actually adore). Its a very odd texture and apparently meant to be used as a highlighter. But this glorious, glittery mess will be going all over me lids!

Mac Blush in Immortal Flower £12

Another impulse buy.... I just can't help myself. I only actually own one Mac blush in Dollymix so i thought this was a good opportunity to rectify this. This and the pressed pigment were both CCO finds.

Nars Ride Up To The Moon Palette £31

Did i need this? No. Was i enticed by the gorgeous goldish neutrals... yes. I'm weak, okay?! This is my first delve into Nars eye shadows, I'm kinda hoping i don't like them because they are expensive and my god this palette is tiny. Such beautiful colours though! Full review coming soon.

Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder £25

I lusted, i lusted, i lusted, i got it.

I'm a sucker for anything mango scented or anything tropical really. I can't remember exact prices for these as I think there were multiple offers on at the Body Shop at the time i purchased. If you're a fan of mango i well suggest you go have a sniff.

Phew! That's it!

FOTD: Stuck In A Rut

Ello Lovelies!

I've been stuck in a little bit of a makeup rut lately, wearing the same look most days and not having much time to change up my routine too much due to work, boo! So over the weekend i was determined to crack out some different goodies and give a new look a bit of a try. Well here's how it went!

Overall i was pretty happy with look. Sure its not the most creative look, but for me its pretty good! My foundation ratio was a little off, my Colourstay is a smidge too light and my Studio Fix Fluid (NW15) is FAR too dark so i like to try and mix the two so i feel like I'm not wasting two perfectly good foundations. I just wish i could get the ratios perfect every time i try, oh well!

I'm really looking forward to trying out some more bolder looks and well and truly getting out of my makeup rut! I've also got my eye on some indie pretties currently, so hopefully I'll have some bits and bobs to show and review soon, yay!

Valentines Inspired FOTD

Sugarpill Review Part 2 - Chromalust Trios

Aloha! 

This is yet another overdue post! These beauties have been sat in my drawer for over a month waiting to be photographed and swatched, I'd been waiting on some nice sunlight but I've given up hope trying to get that since England's pretty gloomy constantly. These are half of the Chromalust eye shadows available and I'll be reviewing the other half as soon as possible. If your a fan of bright, shimmery or out there colours these are definitely for you!

Sugarpill is a USA based brand but i managed to get these from Genie Cosmetics which are based in the UK. The official Sugarpill website no longer sell the trios but at £18.99 for three i had to snap these up because priced at $12 each that's some great value!

 

The packaging of all Sugarpill products is super cute. The only downside to the packaging with these is that if your not careful these can be a little messy. You get 5g of product per jar so these will last a long long time. All of these are completely vegan and cruelty free! I've found these are best used over a sticky base like Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy or wet to get the best results.

 

 My camera really hasn't done these nearly enough justice, the gloomy weather here is bloody annoying! All of these were swatched over a small amount of Pixie Epoxy as it gives the glitter a little more stick and gives a better representation of the colours. Stella surprisingly is my favourite out of the three, it's rainbow sparkles are absolutely stunning! 

 

My camera hasn't picked up the glitter in the others but eeee look at Stella sparkle!

 

My favourite trio of the bunch! I've been playing around with a look using Goldilux and Junebug and shall get some pictures up soon, I'm in love!

Again my camera hasn't done these justice but you get the gist of how stunning they are!

All in all I'm still extremely impressed with Sugarpill. I still utterly adore their pressed eye shadows and will be making a big effort to use these more because they are beautiful! The only downside with them is the lack of sifter, but that's not exactly a big thing. To anyone who loves bright and bold colours I'd highly recommend any of Sugarpill's products, and even to the less daring there's still come gorgeous shades to try!

Halloween: Messing about

As i said in my previous post I've been messing around lately trying not to be a boring cow for Halloween. So i woke up surprisingly early and was in the mood to try something really out of my comfort zone! I'm not trained at all in makeup and after seeing a few tutorials over the past weeks i thought I'd give something new a try. I'm all about enhancing my features so uglying myself up was a bit of a scary task!

For a first ever attempt i was quite happy! Though the wounds didn't look how i first imagined. I've gone straight to ebay and ordered some liquid latex so hopefully i can perfect this look a little.

EOTD: Sugarpill Burning Heart

Ello lovelies!

I'm one of those boring people who NEVER dress up for Halloween. This year i thought I'd try an experiment a little bit and stop being so damn boring! Having bright red hair led me to the slightly unimaginative idea of going as sort of a "Red Devil", so basically i opted for the easy option. It's not the tidiest EOTD but you can see where i was going and with a little practice would look a lot better! Eyebrows are not my thing, i very rarely fill them in and although quite messy I've got to say i adore the red! It matches my hair perfectly so hopefully with a few more attempts i could (sort of) pull it off!

Sugarpill Swatches - Part 1

This is quite possibly my most exciting purchase of the year. I've debated which items i wanted for some time and in the end i came to the slightly obsessive decision... I WANT THEM ALL!

So after a little bit of scheming i managed to get the entire range from my family for my birthday. Best birthday present ever. I stalked the post man every day for nearly two weeks while i eagerly (and very impatiently) awaited my pink package of prettyness! Ha, try saying that three times! Eventually everything arrived from the US and a UK website and i was ecstatic! I'm a little disappointed i didn't photograph the actual package from Sugarpill as it was adorable! A blue cat printed on the box and filled with pretty pink paper! But sadly i ripped open the package quicker than you could say "addict" and it was a little on the destroyed side by the time i realised.

Most people reading this will already of heard of (and quite possibly already be in love with) Sugarpill. But if you have been living under a dull, makeupless rock "Sugarpill Cosmetics is a custom line of vibrant, richly pigmented, velvety pressed eye shadows and sparkling loose powders." Another big selling point is that absolutely none of their products are tested on animals, most are vegan and are clearly labelled so there's no confusion. Part one I'll be swatching the pressed shadows, Chromolusts will come when i can get some sunlight to show them off. So enough rambling, onto the good stuff!

How fecking cute is the packaging? I'm always a sucker for pretty products and these are up there with my favourites. There has been so much thought and detail put into each bit of packaging it's amazing!

There are a total of 9 pressed eye shadow shades and all can be purchased individually or in palette form apart from the black shade Bulletproof which is only available as a single. Priced at $12 each or $34 for the palettes it worked out cheaper to buy the quads. The packaging other than being super cute is made out of sturdy cardboard and has a reasonably sized mirror inside which is perfect for anyone on the go. The pan size is generous at 4g a shadow which is much bigger than your average Mac pan. These are also extremely easy to depot if you like to hold all your shadows together.

Each palette has two matte and two slightly shimmery shades. But if your a fan of sparkle don't worry! They have 18 gorgeously glittery Chromolust loose eye shadows which I'll be swatching soon! The pigmentation of these is phenomenal and they apply like a dream. The only small downsides is that some of these do stain a little but using a good primer will minimise that, and if I'm being finicky the white shade Tako is a little powdery. But i do honestly consider those tiny downsides for the vibrancy and gorgeous quality of these eye shadows.

These were swatched with no base, just simply on my bare arm.

If you're a fan of brights i really couldn't recommend these more. Fantastic value for money, packaging and quality just to re-mention a few points. Spending over $75 will get you free worldwide shipping so no extortionate postage costs is an added bonus. I also received a gorgeous pink glittery Sugarpill sticker and free sample of Junebug which I'll be giving to a friend to try and convert her!

Birthday Haul

Ello!

It feels like I've not blogged in ages! Having work and Uni nearly every day has been a real shock to the system and I've unfortunately not had the time i like to put into my blog this week. But *fingers crossed* I'll get some good daylight this week and shall hopefully have some new exciting reviews, swatches and a requested FOTD post up asap!

I had my 22nd (I'm getting old!) birthday the other week and was well and truly spoilt. I'm a little bit of a brat when it comes to birthdays and over the month beforehand had let my boyfriend and family know EXACTLY what i wanted. I'm also a little obsessive compulsive at times and i couldn't decide which Sugarpill goodies i wanted, so i managed to blag myself the whole collection. I'm mad, i know!



Having been so busy it's been torture not having to time to photograph these and having to look at them just say in the packaging. I actually can't wait to get these out and have a mega play with them. The colours are ALL absolutely stunning and i shall be doing some in depth reviews on these! I'd been eyeing the Sigma Brush Set for ages and I've completely fallen in love with Viva La Juicy.

So a massive thank you to the boyfriend and my family for the utterly awesome birthday pressies i got this year! I'm a lucky girl!
