Limecrime's Red Velvet Velvetine - Review

Heya Lovelies!

Long time no post!

You may have spotted this little gem in my IMATS haul post and seen Limecrimes Velvetines absolutely everywhere on the internet. This is my first Limecrime experience as their regular lipstick range has more of a glossy finish and I'm more of a matte lip girl, so these are right up my alley!

Velvetines are a liquid lipstick of sorts, that dry down to a beautiful matte finish... So i had to eventually get my paws on one! They only currently come in two shades of red; Suedeberry and Red Velvet and i opted for the latter because it was the only one available at the time! Red Velvet is the deeper of the two, giving it a more traditional, sexy, pin up red kind of feel, absolutely perfect with a winged liner.

Formula wise these are very, very liquidy and much more than i had expected. The closest comparison i can link them to is my beloved Fyrinnae's Lip Lustre's but i find the Limecrime offering a tad drying on the lips, which is something i don't get with my Fyrinnae favourites.

Application is a little tricky with Red Velvet as i find you have to keep your lips apart while the product sets, otherwise you end up with an unflattering line. But once it has set, it does not budge! The colour is beautiful, the formula is long lasting and price wise its not too bad at around the £12 mark here in the UK. My only little gripe is that it is a little drying like i mentioned earlier and application is a tad on the finicky side, i prefer to apply it with a lip brush rather than the doe foot applicator provided.

Overall i think this is an absolutely beautiful red and for the matte red lip fans out there this is a real must have product. But do i find myself reaching for it over my other similar red mattes? Not really. I feel my YSL Matte gets a LOT more use, even my Riri Woo simply because they are so much easier to apply. And for liquid formulas like this i would wholeheartedly recommend Fyrinnae's Lip Lustres if you haven't already checked them out. But, saying this if Velvetines were released in a whole host of colours, i would sure be tempted to pick up a few more!

These are available directly from the CutEcosmetics and Love Makeup here in the UK for £11.50.

Have you tried any Limecrime products?

Sneaky little Fyrinnae haul...

Okay, so maybe just one more haul...

How cute are the new little bags?

Its no secret, i bloody love Fyrinnae. Visual Kei Lip Lustre is probably one of my all time favourite lip products and i'd had my eye on Pygmy Hippo for a while, but when they released their new Retro collection.... I just had to place an order.

I absolutely adore the formula of their Lip Lustres, they remind me of a liquid lipstick, but with a silky texture that doesn't bleed. Oh and some of them stain, which i LOVE. They get a massive thumbs up from me for being so long wearing and so comfortable on the lips.
At $7 a pop (and extremely reasonable shipping the UK) they are pretty darn cheap too!

Pygmy Hippo
"Matte medium rosey plum shade, not quite mauve. Neutral-warm. If you wonder about the name, just search Google images for "Pygmy hippopotamus baby". It's not that the shade is an exact match for their little pink undersides, but they're simply rather adorable beings."

Glamorous Rebel
"Bright, rich cherry red. A cool hue, but should work for most neutral and olive skintones as well. Matte finish (no shimmer but applies with a slight glossiness), and is likely to stain. 50s Retro Collection."

(Colour descriptions taken directly from the Fyrinnae website, click on the names to go check them out!)

Pygmy Hippo - Glamorous Rebel - 1952
(Not the greatest phone picture!)

They also included a sample size of 1952 which is a gorgeous warm red that leans orange on me. I am SO pleased with my order and can't wait to feature these in a FOTD soon!

Have you tried anything from Fyrinnae?

FOTD: Chinovi Neutrals

So i have finally gotten around to playing with my Chinovi Cosmetics goodies from my recent haul, hurray! And lets just say, i am not disappointed! But i wont go into that as my next post will be my full review and swatches, I'll just share a quick FOTD with you lovelies!

I've been on a real neutral kick lately, even my Naked palette is getting a bit of love, although on a whole its still far too warm for me.
After swatching my new Chinovi shades i fell in love with a couple and have finally found a day time, smokey, neutral combo that doesn't pull too warm on me, yay! Just as per usual, ignore the brows, I've still not mastered those...
Eyes:
MUA - Eyeshadow Primer
Fyrinnae - Pixie Epoxy
Chinovi - Smoke Out
Chinovi - Nude Pearl +
Chinovi - Speechless
Elf - Black Liquid Eyeliner
MUFE - Smoky Lash
Mac - Fling Pencil

Face:
Estee Lauder - Double Wear Foundation
Bare Minerals - Blush (shade update later)

Nars - Laguna Bronzer
Inglot - Makeup Base

Lips:

L'occitane - Lip Balm

They were a dream to apply and such an easy look to do that i think this will be getting a lot of wear over the next few months. Also, I've managed to finally get my skin somewhat clear, I've changed a few things in my routine, like using non abrasive exfoliators and adding a few drops of tea tree to my toner and my skin is seeming to LOVE it! But again, another post on that soon!

What are your favourite neutrals?

FOTD: Stuck In A Rut

Ello Lovelies!
I've been stuck in a little bit of a makeup rut lately, wearing the same look most days and not having much time to change up my routine too much due to work, boo! So over the weekend i was determined to crack out some different goodies and give a new look a bit of a try. Well here's how it went!

Eyes:
Urban Decay - Primer Potion
Nyx - Milk Jumbo Pencil
Victorian Disco Cosmetics - Frozen Throne (<3)
Sugarpill - Afterparty + Bulletproof + Taco
Mac - Omega (Brows) + Phloof!
MUFE - Smoky Lash

Lips:
Mac - Hue
Which looks really nothingy on me sadly.

Face:
Mac - Studio Fix Fluid mixed with Revlon - Colourstay
Fyrinnae - Confidence Hightlighter (as blush)
Collection 2000 - Lasting Perfection Concealer
Elf - HD Powder

Overall i was pretty happy with look. Sure its not the most creative look, but for me its pretty good! My foundation ratio was a little off, my Colourstay is a smidge too light and my Studio Fix Fluid (NW15) is FAR too dark so i like to try and mix the two so i feel like I'm not wasting two perfectly good foundations.
I just wish i could get the ratios perfect every time i try, oh well!

I'm really looking forward to trying out some more bolder looks and well and truly getting out of my makeup rut! I've also got my eye on some indie pretties currently, so hopefully I'll have some bits and bobs to show and review soon, yay!

Thanks for reading!

Mini Fyrinnae Haul

 Ello lovelies!
So this really is a "mini" haul. Since I'm supposed to be a on no buy this was a little bit naughty *slaps wrists*, but i really couldn't resist.

If you've read my blog for a while you'll know i really am a huge fan of Fyrinnae products, and until recently had only tried their eye products. Well, that needed remedying didn't it?

My mini haul consists of a Lip Lustre, sample highlight, sample blush and a second blush as free sample. So with Fyrinnae's really reasonable shipping it really wasn't too naughty. Can you tell I'm really trying to convince myself that? :P

 Confidence:
"Soft rosy pink with just enough pearly-pink shimmer. No sparkle!"

A REALLY pretty subtle highlighter with no chunky glitter (hoooray!). Now I'm a big fan of glitter but since buying the Nars Danmari palette and experiencing the almighty glitter bomb that is Hungry Heart I'm REALLY glad to have found this little treasure! It applies and blends beautifully and when the no buy ends (or i convince myself it is a necessity) I'll be definitely getting full size!

Enchant:
"Vibrant peach with a touch of pink shimmer. Very bright in the jar, but soft once blended. Our most popular blush since 2006."

Totally agree with the description there! Its pretty intimidating in the jar and looks a nearly neon shade of orange. But on the skin is a much more wearable, still vibrant more pinky coral. Again, i am in LOVE with this and am lusting after a full size. But luckily the sample sizes are pretty decent, so i can see these lasting me a little while!

Captivate:
"Ruddy deep peach-tone with a golden shimmer throughout. The shimmer is very noticable, but not gaudy or "disco-ball" in appearance."

The one obvious comparison i can make with this is that it is very Orgasmy. But i feel Captivate has a little more depth to it, being a tad deeper, making it a bit more wearable for darker skin tones. Its definitely not a dupe, but they are quite comparable. It is an absolutely gorgeous shade!

 Visual Kei:
"Visual Kei is a rather bright pink with a slight shimmer."

This has got to be the most exciting product out of the bunch. I'd had my eye on Fyrinnae's Lip Lustres for a long time and really needed to take the plunge and buy one, oh and I'm so glad i did! This has a texture unlike any other lip product I've tried! Its thin and completely non sticky, glides on the lips and is opaque with one swipe. I love, love, love it! It has lasting power like nothing else I've seen. I've spent an entire evening wearing it and its still visible at the end of the night, through eating and drinking. It does stain, but i really like that. I just wish they had a few more wearable colours, although my bank balance may be slightly glad of this when i do my next Fyrinnae order. Theses are fantastic and i can't give them a higher recommendation!

I think this mini haul has sated my Fyrinnae obsession slightly, but created a real desire for more Lip Lustres... oops! I don't think i can rave about Fyrinnae enough, products are fantastic, prices are fantastic and they have the lowest shipping cost to the UK i have encountered.

You can check out the Fyrinnae website here.

Do you have any Fyrinnae product recommendations? Not that i need encouraging!
