LUSH - Let The Good Times Roll - Review

Hey lovelies!
Lush skincare and I have had a love / hate relationship over the years. Skin Drink used to be my all time favourite moisturiser before discovering Oilatum, then i had a series of disasters including a really nasty reaction to their Serum Bar, Full of Grace. So my skincare routine has been Lush free for quite a while now up until a month or so ago when i picked up a few bits, including this little beauty.

I believe this product was from their Christmas collection, but due to its popularity is has now become permanent.

Let The Good Times Roll is described as a "gentle facial wash", which to be honest, i feel is a little misleading, gentle facial scrub may have been a more apt description. This is my second tub as I've been using this as my daily facial exfoliator, and I've been loving it! The exfoliant part is lovely and fine, not at all coarse or scratchy and exfoliates like a dream. The oil in it also means unlike a lot of other facial scrubs, it doesn't dry out my skin, but it doesn't leave it feeling oily or greasy either. Just the perfect amount of scrub and hydration.

I feel the chunks of popcorn in it are a bit novelty and i just tend to pick those out when i find them. But it smells AMAZING, i don't like that they've compared it to the Popcorn lip scrub (because i think it is VILE) because this buttery popcorn scent is gorgeous and nothing like the hideously salty lip product. And like it promises, the scent does linger on the skin which i really like.

For normal to dry skinned lovelies i would wholeheartedly recommend giving this a bash. If you are on the oilier side, I'm not too sure it would work for yo, but at around £6, its not too expensive to experiment with. This product alone has restored my faith in Lush skincare products and I'm definitely up for picking up a few more! I'm actually back to really enjoying their toners!

My Skincare Routine

Ello lovelies!

Over the last few months I've had quite a few requests for a skincare post so i thought it was about time i got one up! I'm pretty boring with my skincare and more or less stick to the same staple products with the odd new thing thrown in every now and again for good measure. For reference i have quite dry / sensitive skin and over the past year or two my skin has been slightly problematic with breakouts every so often, nowhere near the severity of acne, but still enough to get right on my nerves! I've found a routine that is more or less perfect for my skin, i just need to find a way to battle pesky blackheads! So onto the products!

Simple Cleanser & Toner

I've been using these two for absolutely years! Having a beauty therapist lecturer as a Mother has meant I've been cleansing, toning and moisturising from my early teen years. These aren't very glamorous and are cheap as chips, but they do the job. I generally only use the cleanser on my lazy days, when i can't be bothered to cleanse and polish or whack out the Clarisonic. The toner i use on a daily basis and if my skins being overly problematic i add a drop of tea tree to a spray bottle mixed with toner to help calm it.

Soap and Glory Fab Pore Minute

This second or third tub on this little beauty. I use it twice a week on my nose to try and combat my blackheads, it helps temporarily but has no real long term effects. But it makes my pores feel and look smaller in the short term.

Rose & Co Apothecary Rose Petal Salve

One of the only good things i received in a beauty box. Feels so much nicer on the lips than Vaseline and i find it a lot more nourishing. Has its place permanently next to my bed before i go to sleep to banish dry or cracked lips.

Oilatum Natural Repair Moisturiser

This really does live up to all the hype. I've been using this almost constantly over the past year and i really would not be without it. If you suffer with dry skin, you need this. Again its not a fancy product but it does the best job at moisturising the skin. I picked up an Embryolisse at IMATS and it does not stand up to Oilatum, its just not as moisturising. I really could not recommend this product enough.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

I really don't need to say much about this do i? Its so hyped online and I've got to agree with all the hype, its a fantastic product. Works great with a muslin cloth and with my Clarisonic, i love it!

 
Etat Pur Salicylic Acid

A new addition to my routine. I'm using this at night in an attempt to rid my nose of blackheads, I'm not sure if its having a huge effect yet, but I'll be sure to do a full review once I've given it a good ol' testing!

Elemis Fruit Active Mask

Its a good mask, but its not my favourite. Elemis is on the pricey side for me and I'm currently out of my favourite Papaya Enzyme Peel Mask and desperately trying to be good and use this one up. On the plus side Fruit Active smells AMAZING, maybe even better than Papaya Enzyme, i just prefer the results with the peel.

Origins Drink Up Mask

I recently reviewed this beauty, you can read that here! Again its another corker of a product, great for dry to normal skin.

Clarisonic Plus

I'm a bit naughty when it comes to using my Clarisonic Plus every day, but when i remember i really do love it. Do i think its worth the money? Meh probably not, the Mia or Classic is a much better choice although still an expensive one. With regular use i really see a difference in my skin, it feels smoother and i have a lot less break outs, i just need to be better with using it! I really don't use the body brush in this either and would of done fine with the Classic model, but no, i had a Veruca Salt moment and wanted the PLUS! Hehe.

So that's it! My entire current skincare routine.

Mini Skincare Haul

Ello lovelies! Long time no post! Just a quick mini haul for you today! I'm still waiting on a little indie order so I'll have a more colourful haul for you in a little while, yay! My skin has been playing up a treat over the last few months, as soon as i get it looking better it flares back up so i decided it was time to try out a few new skincare bits and invest in a new Clarisonic head, as the Clarisonic Plus hasn't been getting the love it deserves over the last few months!

Clarisonic - Normal Skin Brush Head - Asos
Like i said, my Clarisonic hasn't been getting a whole load of use lately as I've been experimenting with non abrasive exfoliators, but as that wasn't working for me i decided to pick up a new brush head. These aren't cheap at around £20 a pop but i grabbed one with student discount on ASOS, making it a little more affordable.

Etat Pur - Salicylic Acid - Ultra-Rich Nourishing Balm
As Bioderma has been so big in the blogging world Etat Pur has been on my radar for quite a while now. As affordable as it is i managed to whittle it down to two products, but i could of easily splurged on a lot more! I've been getting irritated with the amount of blackheads on my nose so after seeing rave reviews on Salicylic Acid i decided to give this one a bash. I'm quite loyal to my Thirst Aid and Oilatum moisturisers, but theres no harm in trying another one, is there?! Haha! They even threw in a few very mini samples to try out, which is a nice bonus.

So that's my little haul! Have you tried any new skincare lately?

Superdrugs Optimum Super Antioxidant Grape Range

I've been meaning to try out a new eye and night cream for a while now and after hearing all the buzz about these i thought I'd do a little research!

"Nature and science combine to form a powerful anti-ageing range packed with antioxidants.

With PhytoCellTec™ "Solar Vitis" extract, a powerful antioxidant, which helps to strengthen the skin's cells and prevent premature skin ageing."

The hype around this product was due to having the same type of rare red grape ingredient used in a costly £310 sold in Harrods. Obviously this is not the same cream and Superdrug have been able to sell this much cheaper due to making it with cheaper ingredients and packaging.

Now onto my opinions! I have quite dry sensitive skin so finding a product that suits me is a nightmare. I hummed and hawed over these for a little while in the shop since it was a little bit of a risk since the three products added up to £34 in total. But all logic left the window when told about Superdrugs spend £30 get 1000 points offer, I'm a sucker for offers!

The day cream is quite light in texture but is sufficiently thirst quenching for my dry skin. It's got in my opinion quite a strong fruity scent which some people (sadly including me) may not like but it does fade after a little while on the skin. It's light enough for under makeup but on a night out I'd still use my Oilatum as i find it to be a much better base.

The night cream is a slightly thicker consistency but is still not heavy on the skin. I was a little bit worried as the first time i used it it stung a little, but nothing painful. But as i woke up i hadn't reacted to it and my skin felt fine i carried on with it!

The eye cream again is quite light but unlike other eye creams I've tried in the past doesn't really have that nice cooling sensation on the eye. It doesn't feel as luxurious as say the Benefit "It's Potent".

Day Cream - Night Cream - Eye Cream

As only being 21 and only having very slight lines around my eyes i wasn't expecting much. But the prevention phrase basically sold this to me. I'm a little worried (to say the least!) about aging and finding a medium cost prevention skincare system delighted me! Although I've not seen a difference in my skins texture or appearance it's passed the test when it comes to keeping my skin hydrated, which for a product that isn't marketed for that i thought was brilliant! I've been using these for around a month now so i shall keep on with them until they run out, and I'll update this with any changes to my skin.

Would i buy this again? Possibly. But as always I'll still have my eye open for the "perfect" product.
